Education and care services complaints

Quality Education and Care NT (QECNT) is the regulatory authority and is required to receive and manage complaints about education and care services in the Northern Territory.

Education and care services include:

  • family day care
  • outside school hours care
  • preschool
  • long day care.

Make a complaint

If you have a concern about an an education and care service, you should attempt to resolve the matter with the service first.

If you are unable to resolve it, you can contact Quality Education and Care NT (QECNT).

Complaints can be about:

  • an incident at the service
  • quality of education
  • interactions between staff and children
  • non-compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law 2010 and Education and Care Services National Regulations.

You can make a complaint by email, phone or through the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQA ITS).

How your complaint is managed

After your have made your complaint, it will be acknowledged within 3 days.

Authorised officers will gather and assess information and suggest actions to be taken.

Updates will be provided on the progress of your complaint.

A letter will be sent about the decision.

QECNT will keep your information private within the limits of the law.
