The shared liquor permit application is for residents, contractors and visitors in:

Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Apply or renew a liquor permit

Permits will only be issued for the community you apply for. Follow the steps to apply or renew your liquor permit.

Permit types and expiry

Contractor Duration of contract, but no longer than 12 months

Purchase limits and drinking restrictions

The following regions have limits and restrictions.

Tiwi Islands (except Pirlangimpi)

Liquor may only be taken into the restricted area on the Tiwi barge after being bought from a retailer outside of the Tiwi Islands.

Choose one option per week:

  • Option 1
    A carton of light beer (24 x 375mL cans, less than 3%)
  • Option 2
    A carton of mid-strength beer (24 x 375mL cans, 3% to 4%)
  • Option 3
    Two 6 packs of full strength beer (12 x 375mL cans, over 4%)
  • Option 4
    Two 6 packs of premix drinks (12 x 375mL)
  • Option 5
    Three bottles of wine (750mL, not fortified)

Liquor store opening hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 12 noon to 7pm
  • Sunday and public holidays: Closed

    6 cans of heavy beer

    6 cans of pre-mixed drinks
