Liquor permit for an event in Nhulunbuy

If you're hosting a private event at a non-licensed venue in Nhulunbuy, you can apply for an event liquor permit.

This allows you to buy more alcohol than what is usually allowed under an individual liquor permit for the region.

Who can apply

To apply for an event permit, you must apply at least 2 weeks before the event, and:

The permit is for events on private property, this can include:

  • weddings
  • birthday
  • anniversary
  • engagements.

The permit is not for ticketed events or if guests have to pay a fee to attend.

Get your supporting documents

Check the form for the types of supporting documents you will need, such as documents that demonstrate the date you plan to host your event.

Submit

Submit your application with supporting documents to Licensing NT by email to liquorpermits@nt.gov.au.

After you apply

Your application will be reviewed by the following:

  • local permit committee
  • NT Police
  • Licensing NT.

Approved applications

If your application is approved, you'll get a permit that you can use for up to 3 days which includes the day of the event.

Only the person who applied for the permit can buy or collect the alcohol.

Storing leftover alcohol

If you have any leftover alcohol, you must tell police within 7 days after the event. This includes how you will store the alcohol at your premises.

Cancelling your event

If you cancel your event, you must email liquorpermits@nt.gov.au.

Failure to notify and cancel your permit might affect your future applications.
