Energy Bill Relief - small business

Eligible small businesses can get up to $650 in energy bill relief from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.

This is through a funding partnership between the NT Government and the Australian Government.

Check if you're eligible

You can get energy bill relief if your small business:

• is on a separately metered commercial tariff with your licenced electricity retailer
• has an annual electricity consumption below the threshold of 160 MWh
• does not run using electricity from your home
• is not a local government council.

You must also not be a government agency, institution, or corporation. Unless you mainly provide services that compete with the private sector.

The consumption threshold does not apply to new small business customers of licenced electricity retailers after 1 July 2023.

When can you expect to get it

If you’re eligible, your electricity provider will automatically apply the relief to your bills from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.

It will be applied on a pro-rata basis. You do not need to do anything.
