Business Security and Safety Audit Program - register to be an auditor

Auditors must register to be a supplier under the Business Security and Safety Audit Program.

The role of the auditor

Approved auditors will assist businesses to determine what works maybe needed to protect its premises and workers from damage and injury caused by crime and anti-social behaviour.

These works will be identified in a security audit report.

Who can apply

To participate in the program an auditor must:

  • hold Crime Prevention through Environmental Design qualifications (CPTED) or has completed a CPTED training course
  • hold professional indemnity insurance of at least $2 million
  • hold a valid national police clearance
  • be a Territory Enterprise or employed by a Territory Enterprise
  • be in compliance with all legislative requirements related to its business
    • including holding current licences and permits to carry out the services (where relevant)
  • has a good working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and regulations in order to advise appropriately in relation to worker safety
  • can substantiate it has provided services as a security auditor in the NT for at least 2 consecutive years prior to applying for registration.

How to apply

You will need a business profile in GrantsNT.

Email businessprograms.ditt@nt.gov.au and request to become an auditor.

How you will be paid

A voucher will be issued to the eligible recipient and provided to the auditor on completion of the security audit report.

The auditor can then redeem the voucher with the Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade through GrantsNT.

Vouchers will be issued as follows:

  • $3,000 (GST exclusive) for each service rendered Darwin and Darwin Rural area
  • $3,500 (GST exclusive) for each service rendered outside of the Darwin, Palmerston and Darwin Rural area.

Documentation needed

The auditor must provide evidence to the department it has completed the services by providing copies of:

  • email to the eligible recipient enclosing the security audit report
  • the security audit report from GrantsNT website.

Program end

The program will close on 30 June 2024.
