Andrew Johnson PSM

On 1 May 2023, Mr Andrew Johnson PSM was appointed the Controller of Water Resources by the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Water Security.

Mr Johnson has over 40 years of experience in agriculture, natural resources, water and environmental management.

He spent most of his career as a senior executive in the South Australian Government before working as a consultant and advisor for the past 8 years.

He is skilled and experienced in managing water resources in the Northern Territory, South Australia, the Murray Darling Basin and internationally.

Mr Johnson was a member of the Nepal-Australia Joint Advisory Committee on Water Resources. Since October 2021, he has served as the Chair of the Territory’s Western Davenport and Ti Tree Water Advisory Committee.

He has experience in making decisions related to public policy, legislation and administrative law.

Additionally, he has experience in building and managing water infrastructure and engaging with communities.

He has worked with and supported many Aboriginal people, communities and organisations to identify, develop and implement a broad range of natural resource management projects and activities.

During his time with South Australia’s Department of Primary Industries and Regions, he led a range of initiatives to enhance agriculture and regional development.

Mr Johnson has a Bachelor of Science with Honours. He was also awarded a Public Service Medal for his commitment to the environment and natural resources in 2012.
