Do a traineeship

You can apply to be considered for a traineeship in government.

Traineeships combine employment and a nationally recognised qualification.

Trainees can be:

  • full time
  • part time
  • or school-based.

A school-based trainee attends year 10, 11 or 12 classes two days a week, then the workplace for three days a week.

Certificate levels range from II, III, IV and diploma.

What you can get training in

There are many different pathways you can take.

These include training in:

  • business
  • finance
  • information technology
  • community services
  • education support
  • agriculture
  • conservation and land management.

There are two application rounds each year.

The next intake round opens 1 July and closes 1 September 2019.

Apply on the Northern Territory Government jobs website. Find the program details by searching for 'traineeship'.

You will need to attach all of the below to your application.

  • A resume with two referees we can contact.
  • Your most recent school results (if under 21).
  • Any previous qualifications you have completed.
