Disability employment services
Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) is the Australian Government program that replaced Disability Employment Services (DES) on 1 November 2025. It provides personalised support to people with disability, injury or a health condition to prepare for, find and keep meaningful employment.
IEA offers two main types of support:
- intensive support – for people who are ready to look for work and build job skills
- flexible support – for people who need to build their capacity before job seeking.

Supported Wage System (SWS)
Most Australians with disability take part in the open workforce at full rates of pay.
However, some people are unable to do so due to the effects of disability on their workplace productivity.
The Australian Government has in place the SWS to support people with disability and their employers.
Under these provisions, independent assessors are available to conduct workplace productivity assessments.
This allows employers to pay wages to a person with disability based on how productive they are in their job.
Find out more about the SWS on the JobAccess website.
