Road safety and buses

All parents and caregivers are encouraged to use the below checklist to help get your child safely to and from school.

You can also print this list from the student travel planner (102.0 kb).

  1. Read the code of conduct for school bus travel (155.0 kb).
  2. Ensure your child is capable of travelling independently.
  3. Practice walking your child to and from their bus stop before getting on.
  4. Ensure your child stays back from the road and waits until the bus stops before getting on.
  5. Ensure your child waits until the bus leaves before crossing the road.
  6. Discuss what to do if your child misses their stop - stay on the bus and tell the driver, don't get off at the next stop.
  7. Discuss backup travel plans in case weather conditions stop bus timetables or routes.
