Free Territory Day bus services
Fireworks
If you're travelling on a public bus with fireworks, they must be in their original shop packaging.
Under law, you must also:
- be 18 years and over to legally possess or use fireworks
- only use fireworks on 1 July 2024 from 6pm to 11pm.
Unused fireworks must be handed in to NT Worksafe by 12 noon 2 July 2024. Find out more on the NT Worksafe website.
Territory Day will be held on Monday 1 July 2024.
You can travel for free to and from Mindil Beach to attend the celebrations.
Departure times will vary:
- depending on which bus interchange you're coming from
- due to traffic and weather conditions.
The buses will stop at bus stops along the way.
Read below for departure and return times.
From Casuarina interchange and return - route 4
Route 4 will depart from bay C via Rapid Creek, Nightcliff and Fannie Bay at:
- 3:30pm*
- 4:00pm*
- 4:11pm*
- 4:35pm*
- 5:10pm
- 5:40pm*
- 6:00pm
- 6:20pm*
- 6:30pm
- 7:00pm
- 7:30pm.
*Normal scheduled public bus service.
From Mindil Beach to interchange
Buses will leave from 8:30pm at regular intervals as required.
The last bus will leave at 9:45pm.
From Palmerston interchange and return - route 16
Route 16 will depart from bay J via Stuart Highway, Parap at:
- 4:00pm
- 5:10pm
- 6:00pm
- 6:30pm
- 7:00pm
- 7:30pm.
From Mindil Beach to interchange
Buses will leave from 8:30pm at regular intervals as required.
The last bus will leave at 9:45pm.
From Darwin interchange and return - route 15
Route 15 will depart from bay E at:
- 3:58pm
- 4:18pm
- 4:40pm
- 5:02pm
- 5:22pm
- 5:42pm
- 6:02pm
- 6:22pm
- 6:42pm
- 6:50pm
- 7:02pm
- 7:10pm
- 7:15pm
- 7:22pm
- 7:30pm
- 7:42pm
- 7:45pm
- 7:50pm.
From Mindil Beach to interchange
Buses will leave from 8:30pm at regular intervals as required.
The last bus will leave at 9:45pm.
