Volunteering at school
There may be opportunities to volunteer at your child's school.
Volunteers may help with any of the following:
- excursions
- reading support in the classroom
- sport activities
- school councils or school boards
- fetes and other school events.
Contact your child's school to discuss the volunteering options available.
Working with children clearance
A working with children clearance helps to prevent and deter people who pose a risk to the safety of children from working with them, in either a paid or volunteer capacity.
Volunteers at schools must have a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre card) before starting. Learn more about the Working with Children Clearance (WWCC).
In some instances, short-term volunteers may not need a WWCC. Read about people who do not need clearance.
