Freight Subsidy Disaster Assistance

If you're a primary producer in an eligible disaster-affected area, you may be able to receive assistance towards emergency freight costs.

Funding Available

Central Australia Severe Weather Event (October 2026): Up to $15,000
Receive 50% of eligible emergency freight costs up to a maximum of $15,000.

Other eligible disaster events: Up to $5,000
Receive 50% of eligible emergency freight costs up to a maximum of $5,000.

The subsidy can help cover freight costs for:

• moving livestock out of an impacted area
• bringing in replacement livestock for animals that were lost
• delivering emergency fodder or water for livestock
• transporting building materials
• transporting fencing materials
• transporting equipment and machinery.

Who can apply

You must:

• be a primary producer
• be located within an eligible local government area (LGA)
• have suffered direct damage from an eligible disaster event
• have exhausted insurance and other available funding sources before seeking assistance.

• Check if you are located in the eligible LGA NT Electoral Commission website.
• Prepare the supporting materials:
  • Copy of your insurance (if applicable).
  • Photos of the direct damage from eligible disaster event.
  • Invoices or quotes for freight costs.
