Veterans support

We’re proud to support veterans and their families across the Northern Territory (NT) through targeted programs, grants and events.

    Operation Thrive

Operation Thrive supports veterans and their families with:

    • transition, employment and education
    • health and wellbeing
    • respect and recognition.

This initiative was shaped by the real-life experiences of veterans and their families in the NT.

It builds on the Northern Territory (NT) Defence Veterans Strategy PDF (2.9 MB) and delivers practical projects to make life better for veterans and their families.

    Veteran Community Grant

We provide grants of up to $15,000 to eligible organisations and community groups.

    Funding supports activities that:

    • improve veterans' physical or emotional wellbeing
    • foster community building and social connections for veterans
    • are accessible to a broad number of veterans.

Applications are now open and close 31 May 2026, or earlier if funds are fully allocated.

For more information or to apply, go to GrantsNT.

    Check your mates

Staying connected makes a difference. We encourage you to check in on 5 mates, which is a small action that strengthens wellbeing within the veterans community.

    You can #CheckYourMates by:

    • connecting and making time to meet
    • yarning and taking the time to listen
    • motivating and encouraging action to get support if needed.

A simple phone call or catch-up could change someone’s day or their life.
