Community Benefit Fund: gambling research grant
The gambling research grant program supports research that will help prevent and reduce gambling harm in the NT.
The grant program is funded by the community benefit fund (CBF) through a levy on gaming machines in licenced hotels and casinos.
What you can apply for
To be eligible, your research must be gambling-related. It must also have direct benefit and application to the NT.
Your research must provide the evidence base necessary to inform:
- community impacts
- regulatory actions and strategies.
Gambling research grants support research activities directed at the following themes:
- gambling monitoring and surveillance
- community effect
- gambling products
- evaluation.
The amount of funding for proposed research projects is limited by the available budget and priority needs.

Who can apply
To be eligible, you must be a:
- higher education institution, or
- reputable and recognised research facility.
You also cannot have any outstanding acquittals with the CBF.

Applications open 1 July and close 31 August every year.
