Emergency dental help

If you have a dental emergency you should go to a dentist, doctor or emergency department as soon as possible.

Some private dentists provide an after hours emergency service.

If you knock your tooth out

If you can find the tooth pick it up by the top, called the crown. Don't handle the root surface.

If the tooth is dirty rinse it in milk or put it in your mouth to suck it clean.

Don't let the tooth dry out.

If it is an adult tooth, put the tooth back in the socket if possible. Baby teeth should not be put back in the socket. 

Hold the tooth in your cheek or store it in a cup of milk or in contact lens solution. Don't store it in water.

There is a greater chance of saving the tooth if it can be replaced quickly.
