Scientific name
Lutjanus malabaricus.
Where they live
Adults live around coastal and offshore reefs and hard mud areas of the Arafura Sea.
Larger fish live in deeper waters.
Size and age
They can grow to 100cm, over 15kg and live for up to 31 years.
Fishing tips
Baited hook or jigs.
Snapper saddletail are highly prone to barotrauma when caught from depths greater than 10m and should not be targeted for catch and release.
