Blackspot tuskfish 

Scientific name

Choerodon schoenleinii.

Where they live

Tuskfish blackspot inhabit flat, sandy or weedy areas near lagoon and seaward reefs. 

They feed mainly on hard-shelled prey including crustaceans, mollusks and sea urchins.

Size and age

Grow to 100cm and weigh up to 15kg.

Fishing tips

Baited hook.

Highly prone to barotrauma when caught from depths greater than 10m and should not be targeted for catch and release.
