Great barracuda
Scientific name
Sphyraena barracuda.
Where they live
Great barracuda juveniles can be found among mangroves, in estuaries and shallow sheltered inner reef areas with adults found in a wide range of habitats from murky inner harbours to open seas.
Size and age
They can grow to 200cm and weight up to 50kg. Maximum age is unknown.
Fishing tips
Trolling and flicking of mid-water and surface lures.
