Snapper stripey
Scientific name
Lutjanus caprontatus.
Where they live
Snapper stripey may be found in turbid coastal waters.
Adults inhabit coral reefs in both sheltered waters, estuaries and on outer reef slopes.
Size and age
Snapper stripey can grow to 40cm and live up to 20 years.
Fishing tips
Baited hook or jigs depth range 1 - 80m.
Highly prone to barotrauma when caught from depths greater than 10m and should not be targeted for catch and release.
