Where they live
Golden trevally are commonly found inhabiting coastal and offshore waters near reefs.
Juveniles live among the tentacles of jellyfish.
Adults form schools and are also noted for their behaviour to closely swim around sharks and other large fish.
Size and age
Known to grow to 120cm and weigh 15kg.
Larger species will need heavy line and a heavy mono trace as they tend to rush for reefs and other structures to get rid of the hook.
Generally they prefer baits of yabbies, small mullet, herrings, peeled prawns, whitebait, worms and pipis.
