Where they live
Crimson snapper adults live over shoals, rubble, corals, areas of water plants, and hard or sandy mud and offshore reefs.
They can be found in depths from 5m to 120m.
They often form shoals with saddletail snapper.
Juveniles live in shallow water over muddy bottoms.
Size and age
Crimson snapper can grow to 85cm, weigh more than 8kg and live for up to 12 years.
Baited hook or jigs.
These fish are highly prone to barotrauma when caught in water deeper than 10m and should not be targeted for catch and release.
