Sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic: greywacke, shale, siltstone, hematitic shale, granite, felsic volcanics, dolerite, basalt, sandstone, dolostone.

Age Min:

1840 Ma.

Age Max:

1870 Ma.

Summary:

Forms part of the Tennant Region. A Palaeoproterozoic basement inlier comprising volcaniclastic rocks, volcanics and flysch sediments. Intruded by granites and deformed by the Tennant Orogeny at approx 1850 Ma.

Relationship:

Overlain by the Palaeo- Mesoproterozoic Davenport and Tomkinson provinces to the south and north respectively. Unconformably overlain to the east and west by the Neoproterozoic to Palaeozoic Georgina and Wiso basins.

Thichness:

N/A.

Economic:

Over 5 million ounces of gold production to date from numerous iron-oxide Cu-Au deposits. Significant production of Cu, Bi and W. One lead-zinc resource identified undercover.

Metamorphism:

Unmetamorphosed to lower greenschist facies.
