Sedimentary: limestone, dolostone, sandstone, siltstone, conglomerate.

Summary:

A gently dipping intracratonic basin.

Relationship:

Unconformably overlies the Palaeoproterozoic Pine Creek Orogen and Palaeo-Mesoproterozoic Birrindudu Basin to the north and east and Neoproterozoic Victoria Basin to the west. Overlain by Mesozoic Carpentaria Basin on its southern margin.

Thickness:

Up to 1 km.

Economic:

Some carbonate-hosted base metal and barite occurrences along faulted southwestern margin. Limestone quarried in southeast.



Metamorphism:

Unmetamorphosed.
