Solar for Multi Dwellings Grant Scheme

The Solar for Multi Dwellings Grant Scheme provides funding to eligible unit management corporations in the Northern Territory (NT).

You can get up to $7,500 (excluding GST) per dwelling to cover up to 50% of the total installation costs for:

  • a shared solar PV system
  • solar sharing technology
  • smart meters and
  • battery storage systems.

For example, the maximum grant available for 10 dwellings would be $75,000 to reimburse 50% of at least $150,000.

This scheme is delivered by the NT Government’s Department of Mining and Energy.

It is funded by the Australian Government through its Community Solar Banks Program.

Who can apply

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a management corporation in line with:
  • not be:
    • a government agency or government owned body
    • a government owned or controlled statutory corporation
    • local government
    • a public or private educational institution
    • a managing entity or owner of a building that is located on land that is owned by the NT Government.

The department will decide whether an applicant is eligible based on the application and the property.

Before you apply

Read, understand and agree to the scheme's terms and conditions.

You must also prepare supporting materials, including quotes from a nominated service provider.

How to apply

To apply, you must submit an application via GrantsNT with all:

  • required information and
  • supporting documentation.

If you don't have an ‘Organisation Profile’ account, you must set one up.

After you apply

Your application will be assessed and you will be advised of the outcome.

If conditionally approved, you will have 90 days to finalise and submit additional documentation.

Once documentation has been received, you will be invited to sign a funding agreement.

After funding agreement has been signed, you must submit an invoice and certified completion of works.

Funding will then be paid in line with the terms and conditions.
