Jim Smith is a long-term Darwin resident who is connected to Darwin Harbour through commercial, business and recreational endeavours. With a professional background in Aquaculture and a lifelong connection to the sea, Jim has a passionate belief that the Harbour is Darwin's greatest asset and that it is critical that it is preserved, protected and managed in a way that respects the economy, the environment and our community. In 2008, Jim established the marine tourism business Sea Darwin. Since that time this business has been the vehicle Jim uses to showcase the Darwin Harbour and Top End coastal environments through interpretative cruises and charters. Sea Darwin operates from an eco-tourism model, with success gauged through consistent financial growth and accolades from 10 awards including Northern Territory tourism awards in Eco-tourism and Excellence in Sustainable tourism, as well as an Australian tourism award for Eco-tourism. |
