Cancer support services

Cancer care coordinators

A cancer care coordinator is an experienced clinician whose role is to:

  • coordinate care
  • help patients and families navigate cancer health services
  • provide a point of contact information and support through the patient journey.

There are cancer care coordinators based at Royal Darwin Hospital, Katherine Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital.

Coordinators work with patients in urology/prostate cancer, surgical wards, haematology and adolescent and young adults with cancer.

There are McGrath breast care nurses in Darwin and Alice Springs.

Community-based coordinators are also available at Danila Dilba, Cancer Council NT and the Leukaemia Foundation.
