The Northern Territory (NT) Government is delivering a $65 million Jobs Rescue and Recovery plan, and an additional $50 million fund to support small business. This is to help stimulate the economy and keep Territorians in jobs.
In readiness for Commonwealth Wealth Week School Tours from 9 to 13 March, NT Government House has launched a Minecraft version of the House and Teaching Resources. Government House alongside Charles Darwin University and the Department of Education developed the immersive historical world of Government House using Minecraft.
School’s in for southern students
Interstate schools can now apply for $3,000 towards the cost of a school trip to the NT as part of the Immediate Tourism Resilience Plan. The boost from $1,000 to $3,000 for the Save & Learn – NT School Excursion Program is available for interstate school groups that book an NT excursion between 1 September 2020 and 31 March 2021.
Health advice - Novel Coronavirus
Important message to the Howard Springs Community. The people in isolation at the Munigurr-ma facility pose no health risk to your community. They were evacuated from Wuhan and the Diamond Princess cruise ship for their safety after clearing a thorough health assessment.Isolation is an extra precaution to ensure no one becomes ill during the 14 day incubation period and risks spreading the virus.
Quarantine accommodation provided
The Northern Territory will host approximately 280 Australians who are being evacuated from China. The Chief Health Officer has complete confidence that the Darwin community will not be impacted by this cohort being quarantined at the Manigurr-ma accommodation village at Howard Springs. The facility is perfectly fit for quarantine purposes and will provide these Australians with the care they require for the 14 day period.
Wadeye community working together to preserve “special building”
The Old Convent in Wadeye has been added to the NT Heritage register, making it the first heritage-listed building in the community. The Old Convent was built in 1940 by Catholic Missionaries and local Aboriginal men using native timber. It is one of several buildings that remain from the establishment of the Catholic Mission at Wadeye, then called Port Keats.
