Congratulations to NT Chief Health Officer Dr Hugh Heggie for being awarded the Public Service Medal in Australia Day Honours.
Dr Heggie has been recognised for his outstanding public service to community health. His experience spans a 40 year career devoted to protecting the health and wellbeing of all Territorians, particularly our Aboriginal population.
Dr Heggie continues to lead the NT through the COVID-19 pandemic and protect Territorians with no community transmission to date.
He is passionate about Aboriginal health and feels privileged to have spent 20 years working as a rural generalist practitioner, living and working in remote Aboriginal communities across the NT.
Thank you Dr Heggie for being an exceptional leader.
