Historic $229m investment to overhaul youth justice system

In April the Northern Territory Government announced it’s $229.6 million investment over the next five years to fix the failing child protection and youth justice systems.

The Implementation Plan entitled Safe, Thriving and Connected: Generational Change for Children and Families outlines how this whole-of-government approach is going to achieve the reform.

This plan builds on the reform already started by the NT Government and will directly link with the other strategies and plans designed to improve outcomes for children and families experiencing vulnerability.

The plan has been developed with the Chief Executive Officers of the Children and Families Standing Committee, which includes the Department of the Attorney-General and Justice, Chief Minister, Education, Health, Housing and Community Development, NT Police and Territory Families. Introducing the required changes will require the combined efforts of all agencies.
