Regional forums to discuss NT Government road reserves

Have your say on signage and activities in road reserves.

A review of activities in road reserves will help to better manage and minimise hazards to road users, while establishing fair rules about signage and other activities to support businesses and enterprising individuals.

Road reserves are areas of land between the edge of the asphalt and the boundary of private or business properties. Signage and commercial activities in the road reserve need to be appropriately regulated to ensure they do not unduly distract motorists or pedestrians, or become a hazard during a cyclone or storm event.

Public consultation has begun with regional forums being held in Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Katherine and Darwin during the last week of July. This process will help to finalise the guidelines.

Go to for details of the regional forums or take the online survey. The Activities in Road Reserves Consultation and Guidelines documents are also available here.
