Strong uptake of Home Improvement Scheme

Territory homeowner-occupiers and Tradies are signing up to the Northern Territory Government’s $20 million Home Improvement Scheme after it officially opened on Sunday 5 June.

Under the initiative Territory homeowner-occupiers can apply for a voucher of up to $2,000 towards minor home improvements, repairs or maintenance works.

This is on the condition homeowner-occupiers use registered local small businesses or tradies and contribute at least the same amount.

Projects must be small-scale (less than $20,000), the voucher value depends on the size of the project and will be from $250 to a maximum of $2,000.

Home owner-occupiers are encouraged to source multiple quotes for their home improvement projects and treat it as they would any other project at their homes.

Homeowner-occupiers should allow at least five working days for applications to be processed.

As of June 7 more than 600 tradies have applied to register under the Home Improvement Scheme with more than 300 approved so far.

The list of small businesses currently registered is available and updated daily Home Improvement Scheme website.
