Northern Territory Biosecurity Strategy 2016-2026 released today
The Northern Territory Biosecurity Strategy 2016-2026 was released today by Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries and Land Resource Management Gary Higgins.
Biosecurity is the economic, environmental and community protection from serious damage of pests, diseases and weeds. Biosecurity risks are often unknown, unpredictable and diverse.
The Northern Territory Biosecurity Strategy 2016-2026 has been developed to address increasing biosecurity risks across the Territory.
The strategy has a clear vision, with six goals, to ensure that the Territory is protected from new, established and endemic pests and diseases. It will deliver results by partnering with industry stakeholders and the community to provide monitoring, surveillance and response swiftly and effectively.
Everyone has role to play in protecting Territory biosecurity and by working together we can ensure an enviable future for the Territory.
