Indonesian live cattle quota rises

The Northern Territory Government has today welcomed Indonesia’s decision to increase the live cattle import quota by 50,000.

Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries Willem Westra van Holthe applauded the decision from Indonesia.

“Today, the live export trade is worth around $230 million to the Territory’s economy annually and we envisage that will only increase in the future,” he said.

The move follows increased beef prices in Indonesia after the live cattle quota to the country was significantly reduced last month.
