Goldband snapper

Goldband snapper are generally silver to dark grey with two golden stripes bordered by blue on the side of the snout and cheek. 

The top of the head has a series of V-shaped yellow bands. 

This is an excellent fish to eat.

Where they live

Goldband snapper are schooling fish and live near hard, rocky and uneven sea floor and steep drop-offs. 

They can be found in depths of 40m to 250m.

Size and age

Goldband snapper grow to 90cm, over 8kg and live for up to 30 years. 

Recommended bait or lure

Goldband snapper are usually caught by bottom fishing with squid or fish baits on heavy lines.
