COVID-19 safety in NT parks and reserves
When visiting Northern Territory (NT) parks or reserves, you should:
- follow physical distancing rules - keep a 1.5 metre distance from people who are not known to you
- practice good hygiene including regular hand washing and covering a sneeze or cough with your elbow or a tissue
- come back later if the carpark at a campground or swimming spot is full
- be respectful of shared space and minimise the time you spend using common facilities including BBQs, bathrooms and showers
- be aware that campground and caravan park site numbers may be reduced to comply with physical distancing requirements
- not use any site that is closed.
If you have flu-like symptoms, stay home. If you develop symptoms which may be consistent with coronavirus (COVID-19), self-isolate and call the COVID-19 hotline on 1800 008 002.
Cleaning and hygiene
Toilets at high visitation parks are cleaned once a day.
This includes toilets at all of the following:
- Alice Springs Desert Park
- Alice Springs Telegraph Station
- Berry Springs Nature Park
- Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve
- George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens
- Howard Springs Nature Park
- Litchfield National Park
- Nitmiluk National Park
- Territory Wildlife Park
- Watarrka National Park.
This cleaning does not include touch points that are outside of a toilet facility, such as viewing platform and staircase handrails, seats and benches, signage and emergency call devices.
Toilets at other parks vary in frequency and way they are cleaned. Signs will be placed at these sites.
You should bring your own soap and hand sanitiser. These won't be available at parks.
