Gifted and talented students

This page has information on gifted and talented students and how they are supported in Northern Territory (NT) schools.

Your child may be gifted or talented if they excel, or are capable of excelling, in one or more areas including:

  • academic studies
  • visual and performing arts
  • physical ability
  • creative thinking
  • interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.

Your child may also have an exceptional ability to reason, learn and think in comparison to their fellow students.

Schools in the NT have processes in place to identify and support gifted and talented students.

Curriculum support

If your child is gifted or talented, your child's teacher will ensure that the curriculum is differentiated to meet their needs and to assist in the development of their gifted behaviours and talents.

If you think your child is gifted or talented, please talk to your child's teacher or principal.

Go to the policies section on the Department of Education website for more information about gifted and talented students.
