Introduction

This guide outlines the reporting requirements for petroleum, either onshore or in coastal waters, required under the Petroleum Act or the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act.

This does not include daily, weekly or close-out reporting which is part of the operational activity or annual title reports and petroleum resource reports. Read more about operational reporting in conducting an activity after approval, annual title reports in petroleum title reporting and petroleum resources reporting.

Reporting ensures exploration and production operations comply with the relevant laws and industry best practice.

You must provide reports for all of the following areas of activity:

  • well activities, construction, modification and abandonment
  • petroleum production
  • seismic and other geophysical surveys
  • geological studies and surveys.

All geoscientific reports and data must be submitted in digital form in accordance with the guidelines.  Read more about content and format of reports and data.
