Defence Support Industry Awards

The Defence Support Industry Awards recognise local businesses that work hard to support the Army, Navy, Air Force and Australian Border Force in the Northern Territory (NT).

The major award is the Minister's Award for Excellence in the Defence Industry, with the winner receiving $5000.

The selection panel may also award a Chief Minister's Special Recognition Award where a nomination is deemed to warrant special recognition.

The annual awards are designed to enhance the winners' reputation among industry peers locally and nationally, as a business that has made an outstanding achievement in helping to grow the sector.

Who can apply

All small to medium sized businesses based in the Northern Territory and working in the Defence industry sector are encouraged to nominate themselves or another business for the awards.

You do not have to be a member of the Australian Industry Defence Network NT.

Nominees should be working within the Defence support industry for at least two years. The selection panel may however accept a nomination if the business has achieved a defence related contract for the first time within the past two years, or has initiated a strategic capability that will benefit the Defence support industry as a whole.

Nominees will be assessed based on their activities to grow their Defence support capability or that of the industry, including how they:

  • seek out business opportunities from Defence decisions
  • implement business and workforce development initiatives
  • develop strategic partnerships
  • raise the profile and reputation of the NT Defence support industry
  • invest in equipment or infrastructure to increase capability and capacity.
