Water extraction licences

Water meter information

A water meter should provide accurate data on the volume of water being pumped from the resource.

Water use data is used with rainfall, river/spring flow and groundwater level to keep track of the impact of people on the resource.

There should be a balance between the volume entering the system through recharge/rainfall and the volume leaving it through pumping and natural discharge such as springs.

Water meter information supports sustainable water use.

Submit your water meter reading

If you have a water extraction licence in the Northern Territory, you must submit monthly water meter readings, unless otherwise stated on your licence. This is part of your responsibility as a licence holder.
