Renew, transfer or change your water licence

If you're a licence holder, you can change, renew or amend your water extraction licence.

Renew your licence

To continue accessing water, you must apply to renew your water extraction licence before it expires.

You must do this at least 120 business days, approximately 6 months, before your licence expiry date.

Step 1. Fill in the renewal form.

Applications received after the expiry date will be returned and you will be asked to apply for a new water extraction licence.

If the interest in the land has been transferred, you must notify the Water Resources office to update the public register for water licences.

This includes changes in land ownership and properties that are under a lease agreement.
