Per trip levy on commercial passenger vehicles

From 1 February 2018, a $1 per trip levy will apply to all trips of point-to-point transport services.

These include the following:

  • taxi
  • minibus
  • private hire car
  • rideshare.

If you are a commercial passenger vehicle (CPV) operator, you will need to pay the levy using a new online payment system.  You will get an email each month telling you how to pay the levy.

If you own a rideshare company you will be responsible for paying the levy amount for any vehicle operating under your platform.

How the money will be used

The levy funds will go back into the CPV industry and also fund the lift incentive and transport subsidy schemes to support people that live with a disability.
