MVR transactions at your post office

This page has information about which vehicle registration and driver licensing transactions you can do at Australia Post outlets in the Northern Territory (NT).

Opening hours vary between post offices.

Standard trading hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Some outlets also trade on Saturday.

You can pay by:

  • BasicsCard
  • EFTPOS
  • MasterCard
  • Visa or
  • cash.

You can do all of the following:

  • renew your NT driver licence and get a new photo taken if you need to
    • if you have restricted conditions on your NT driver licence, you must visit your local MVR office
    • if you have an occupational authority (endorsement) that is also due for renewal, or an XA condition on your NT driver licence, you must visit your local MVR office
  • renew your NT vehicle registration for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months
    • submit your roadworthy inspection if required
  • update your contact details
  • transfer your interstate licence to the NT
    • if you have restricted conditions on your driver licence, you must visit your local MVR office
  • apply for a replacement driver licence card
    • you will need your licence number
  • sign up to receive SMS reminders.

If you don't have your renewal notice, you can still renew your registration or driver licence, you just need to show your ID.
