Eg, etc and ie

What has changed

Use eg, ‘for example’, 'such as' or 'like'. If you do use eg, don't use full stops between the two letters.

Don’t use ie and etc. 

Don’t use full stops in abbreviations or acronyms.

Why has this change been made

'etc' can usually be avoided and doesn't offer any value to a web user.

'ie' isn’t always well understood by web users.
