Pharmacy

Hospital pharmacies are located at:

• Royal Darwin Palmerston Hospital
• Katherine Hospital
• Gove District Hospital
• Alice Springs Hospital
• Tennant Creek Hospital.

Hospital pharmacies have a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that support the use of medicines across the hospitals as well as suppling medicines to urban and remote clinics.

Clinical pharmacy services

If you are an inpatient admitted to a Northern Territory (NT) hospital you can access pharmacy services.

Pharmacists can help you with:

• medication use
• drug interactions
• education and quality improvement
• optimising therapy.

Onsite clinical pharmacists

Onsite clinical pharmacist are available for support and advice for managing medicines.

They can be based with the:

• Alan Walker Cancer centre
• mental health services
• hospital in the home
• alcohol and other drugs services
• correctional services
• National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre.

Outpatient pharmacy services

If you attend a specialist outpatient clinic most prescriptions will be subsidised by the Australian Government, and can be taken to any community pharmacy for dispensing.

Hospital pharmacies supply some medicines that are not available in the community.
